Everyone likes to hear predictions, whether we believe them or not. It’s just a fun thing to see if someone gets it right. Rarely do people keep score though- they tend to just remember, yah, so and so said this and he/she was right. But at the same time, he/she was also wrong on so many things- but we don’t remember those. So, I’ve taken it upon myself to keep score of the the world’s feng shui masters predictions so they don’t get away with it so easily.
As we have officially (Jan 26) entered the year of the Ox ? (how now brown cow?), it seems only fitting to let the world know what the feng shui masters are predicting this time around. Last year, they got some (like major changes in politics and debilitating natural disasters such as earthquakes) and lost a lot (stable property market, metals market & major digestive related diseases). Notice how they got the broad predictions correctly and the more specific ones, wrongly.
The predictions this year are by Master Lynn Yap of Singapore.
(1) Gold will rise to $800 around June 2009 (err … its already at $900)
(2) Oil will stay around $40-50/barrel
(3) There will be a major earthquake or volcanic eruption in a country’s souther portion -OR- in the world’s southern hemisphere.
(4) Possibility of War (err … where?)
(5) Companies with “Ox” logos in them will be in trouble (hmm … who has this, red bull?)
(7) Many strikes, protests, riots- due to unemployment
(8) Australia and NZ$ will fall
(9) Stock Market will have rise and falls so there is money to be made (err… isn’t that the nature of the stock market?)
(10) Scandals and frauds will occur (err… doesn’t this happen every year?)
(11) There will be a terrorist attack on a building.
(12) There will be many freak accidents on the road.
(13) There will be severe recession in many countries. (This is a prediction?)
(14) Possibility of new drug being invented (err … this is always happening)
(15) Less babies born this year (err … due to recession?)
(16) Possibility of passing away of an important leader (again, isn’t this ALWAYS a possibility? the opposite prediction coming true would be more fascinating)
(17) Rental and property prices going down (again … this is a prediction??)
(18) Business that are in the water- shipping, airlines, entertainment business, will be very slow. (err … due to recession?)
(19) Wood (education, government) & Metals (fortune telling, jewellery) Industry is expected to outshine Fire (f&b, electronics) & Earth (cosmetics, construction) with Water being the worst.
(20) Mergers & Acquisitions in Metals Industry. (errr … this has been in the news for a while already)
